Marc A. Thiessen is the former Chief Speechwriter (officially, Assistant to the President for Speechwriting) for President George W. Bush. Prior to being elevated to that position, Thiessen was a speechwriter for former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. He also spent more than six years on Capitol Hill as spokesman and senior policy adviser to Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Jesse Helms.
