General Barry McCaffrey (U.S. Army, retired) is president of BR McCaffrey Associates LLC, a consulting firm that provides strategic, analytic, and advocacy services to business, nonprofits, governments and international organizations. He served as director of drug control policy under President Bill Clinton and provides national security and terrorism analysis for NBC News. Over his 32-year military career he was awarded three Purple Heart medals and two Distinguished Service Crosses, the U.S.'s second-highest award for valor. He also was twice awarded the Silver Star for valor.
