Alvaro Uribe Vélez served as Colombia's president from 2002 to 2010, following stints as a senator, governor, and mayor of Medellin. Since leaving office, Mr. Uribe has served as a visiting scholar at several universities and as vice chairman of the U.N. Secretary's Panel of Inquiry investigating the May 2010 flotilla incident in Gaza.
