RETURNING INMATES BACK TO PRISON FOLLOWING THE PANDEMIC
JILLIAN SNIDER, policy director for R Street’s Criminal Justice & Civil Liberties team joins us to talk about the Biden Administration’s plan to reportedly return thousands of inmates, currently on home detention, back to prison after the state of emergency for the pandemic ends. She also discusses prison reform.
Snider leads the R Street’s Criminal Justice & Civil Liberties program in producing research and commentary on public policy related to all stages of the justice system: policing, pretrial policy, sentencing, incarceration, juvenile justice and reentry. Jillian is a retired New York City police officer. Over the course of her career, she served in various enforcement positions including patrol, undercover vice operations, street-level narcotics, field intelligence and anti-crime. Additionally, she served as a precinct liaison for non-enforcement, collaborative, community-based initiatives. She also teaches as an adjunct lecturer at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in the department of Law, Police Science and Criminal Justice Administration.
